Title:

Inherited Deafness: A genetic study

(DREAM-M)

Purpose:

The investigators from Michigan State University are attempting to identify the causes of hearing impairment. The purpose of this study is to map, clone and better understand the genes causing hearing loss. Finding the genes requires: 1) DNA samples from hearing-impaired people; 2) DNA samples from relatives of hearing-impaired people, even if the relative has normal hearing; 3) the results of hearing tests for both the hearing-impaired and non-hearing impaired participants; 4) answers to questions about your health and noise and ototoxic chemical exposures.
